THE WORST AIR IN THE WORLD IS ON THE WEST COAST TODAY. Our air is yellow and orange, and the sky is brown. Wildfires continue and evacuations are extending. This sucks.

HOWEVER, I still have my home, my neighborhood, and my life. Countless others do not.

Stay safe, I have read that wood smoke is at least twenty times more dangerous than cigar smoke. So try not to breath it, if you can.

Thank you, and my area is rated as "Very Unhealthy", just one notch down from the worst "Hazardous". Windows closed in house and car, but I need to get my pup out for short walks!

Yes, I am in it and it is bad. I live close enough to the Columbia River that I can see white tops on waves at a distance. Today the river is not visible and I am within two hundred years of it.

I thought of you and thought Astoria was clear when they were mapping smoke during the weather forecast, sorry you're getting it, too!

@tinkercreek Kate has been sitting on the computer looking at all the damage being done by fires. We are probably over a hundred miles from the fires but it is like they are close by. All the winds from the Eastern part of the state are blowing slowly in this direction.

@tinkercreek I just saw from your profile page that you are in Portland, it has to be worse there. I used to live there. Moved several times to points all over the area.

@dalefvictor Yes, I was like her, barely able to break away from it. I am just north of Tigard, so the closest was about 10 miles west in rural Washington County. It is just so distressing, can't imagine so many losing homes, farms, businesses, animals, huge swaths of destruction. Right now I'm washing some unused blankets to send on, as a neighbor is collecting to deliver items down to affected areas.

The video of the sky in San Francisco are frightening! Breathing that stuff has to be terribly unhealthy.

Yes, and news is that our Covid masks will not block these finer particles.

@tinkercreek I would think like any air filter, a mask would clog up pretty fast from the heavier ones.

The light inside my house was APOCALYPTIC ORANGE all day! Because I'm about 15 minutes from the mountains (the San Gabriels rise up very abruptly) we're hearing huge, heavy water-droppers all day long! Those people deserve a LOT more recognition than they get!
