From the bottom of my heart, thank you all. Today was great. I was able to do well at work, laugh with my friends, buy supplies to make a dessert I have been craving, and most importantly, make an appointment to see a therapist on Monday to begin CBT therapy. I know this is an agnostic forum, but I see that it is more than that. The positivity and love found here is truly heartwarming. I feel like this is all a step in the right direction.

Glad you had the courage to go for some CBT treatment. We all can use some help and guidance sometimes and I had some CBT therapy 20 years ago to improve my own ways of thinking and view of life. I had been a people pleaser and was always trying to solve other people's problems to be helpful and keep everyone happy. It left me exhausted and unhappy though! So I learned to look after my own needs first to stay strong mentally and physically, and let others look after their own feelings and let them work through their own troubles most of the time. If I want I can help if they ASK for my help, but I do not intrude on their right to deal with their own lives. This community can at times be like a group self-help therapy session! Good luck. 🙂

What this boils down to, in the crucible, is we're still just people, humans. I think ...I believe that the selective absence of an organized religion, if you will, allows us to be simply authentic. Life doesn't have to be complex. We make it too complicated to our detriment. That's great you've made strides! I know people, friends of mine on fb thst deal with anxiety and depression every day. We even have a fb page of support called "wine, whiskey, whatever " where we all present our triggers or search for our triggers. Our trials and tribulations. But it's largely support. I reiterate allow yourself to dig. Self awareness is KEY! it's about the journey not just the destination!
