I never left groceries on top of my car, but i left a briefcase on top once. Fortunately some kind Samaritan flagged me down quickly. Was i already losing it even 30 years ago? LOL

I think this happenned to all of us sometimes in our lives,Our minds are so busy and going so many directions at once and you get focused on the next goal or stop the past is litterally past it is gone out of your mind ,Around my area womans purse are not uncommon but most common thing is a coffee cup or a carrier with two to four cups in it ,one is getting into the vehicle your phone rings you set it up on the roof as you answer ,your mind gets lost in the conversation ,You quickly relize what you have done the first time you hit the brakes and a lot of friendly people are gesturing at you ,but in reality they are trying to point out your forgetfulness
Don't judge. This is a case of exhaustion or distraction. My worst example:
When Claire was three weeks old, I took her to her first doctor visit, a baby checkup. Nursing every two hours, 24/7, I was beyond exhausted.
Leaving the doctor's office, I set down the baby carrier behind my car, safe from other cars. Gingerly lifted Claire out, and with difficulty, buckled her into the backward-facing car seat in the backseat. Each step was new to me.
Putting the car in reverse, I backed over the baby carrier.
Claire's father was horrified. "But Claire was safe in the car," fell on deaf ears. He ripped me a new hole. I deserved it.
She left her purse on top too!
What could she have been thinking?
Maybe . . . someone could flag her down safely so the car would not crash.
Sheβs sat at a red light, the 2 people behind would have had time to warn her, if they were mobile.
@girlwithsmiles
Didn't notice the those right in front of my eyes!
Someone would have the impulse to jump out a car, rush there and tell her.
@AnonySchmoose I do hope so
Poor lady, she must have a lot on her mind. I hope that someone managed to let her know before she lost them. I would have run out and told her instead of taking a pic!
I've left a document folder on top of my car roof. Luckily, I saw the sheets blowing behind me in the rear view mirror. It took quite some time to recover them all.
Another time, I spotted a passport on the road near my house. It had the name of a friend who lived nearby. Just as I got to his house, the friend rushed back. He was off on holiday and thought he had forgotten to pick it up. Fortunately, he had planned to spend some time "duty free" shopping, so just managed to make his flight after all.
