In 1983, during Ronald Reagan's second run for office, the GOP accused the Democrats of being elitist intellectuals, out of touch with the common American. They build on that myth over the next 36 years.

Now the tables are turned. The GOP today is the elitist party (they forgot the intellectual part of that formula). They are elitist, steeped in privilege of a by gone era, back when Jim Crow was the accepted status.

The majority of the GOP aristocracy (they wished) is comprised of , racist and misogynistic old, impotent men. They are entrenching for the last stand of colonialism in America.

The new demographics shows that privilege is no longer the lay of the land. The common man in America today is Black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American. Middle Eastern, and Jewish. No longer whites of European descent. There is a place for the white polulation, but it is along side, not above.

I don't agree.

What I see is these labels by Republicans to Democrats have stuck.

  1. Socialists
  2. Communists
  3. Elitist,
  4. Condescending to uneducated, common man
  5. Mostly immigrants and black voters
  6. Unpatriotic
  7. Just a coastal party (don't understand America's heartland, out of touch)
  8. Godless people
  9. Don't have a regard for family values
  10. Baby killers
  11. Tax and spend party
  12. Re-distributors of wealth
  13. Anti-rich
  14. Occupy Wall-streeters
  15. Giving the country away to the UN

The Republicans have been saying and repeating these labels and we have allowed them to stick the labels to us successfully. It is sad that in spite we being on the side of compassion, fairness, equity, civil rights, human rights... we keep losing because our leadership is meek, weak, ineffective and old and frail.

Don't blame the enemy. It does what it is supposed to do which is kick our ass. Ask what we and our leaders are doing. We just recently allowed Republicans to caste the labels of "Socialists and Communists" in concrete on us by allowing an unfit, rogue, ineligible, old frail, hunchback candidate called Bernie Sanders who has never been a part of the Democratic Party all his life. We are good at shooing selves in the foot. Just doing ranting at the enemy won't do any good. Smart people fight and take action, not rant.

It seems to me that the Democrats have not understood what the Republicans have been up to for the past 40 years. They still have control of the narrative and it seems like I hear from a republican on policies before any democrat speaks. The republicans have been lying and cheating for years because they do not care what happens to the country as long as their agenda gets put into place. This is why it was so important to get Barrett on the SC. Trump has put three very conservative people on the court so if things go as they are supposed to by their standards they control the SC whatever happens. This is wrong and dangerous. So far for the past month every time, I hear the words, "The People" it has been Moscow Mitch that is being referred to. Mitch is not the people! He does not even represent his constituency, and he sure as hell does not represent any of the people in the country that make less than a million a year.

You seem to be one of the very few who understand what the game is. Most think the nation is a high school where everybody must behave. The politics and especially the presidential race is cut throat competition and parties will anything to win without getting caught. However, we have some bad apples among Democrats too and some have gone to jail.

We seem to argue for morality, righteousness, honesty which really do not matter to winning. Good guys in reality to don't finish well although giving the perception is a part of the game.

Unfortunately, the GOP/Republicans/conservatives have a tight grip on this country and hold a great deal of power in our government. It will take decades to break this choke hold they have and they will have plenty of time to do a great deal more damage to this country. I doubt I'll see this change in my lifetime.

I wish you would write for us sometime about where you live and how it has benefitted you to be immersed in another culture. Please consider it.
