Looks similar to a Jacaranda. Native to Australia. Widely planted in Africa. Flowers once (sometimes twice) per year.
I'd need to see the leaves to confirm.

@Petter Jacaranda is Native to South America. They grow all over Gauteng in South Africa too, predominantly in Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Not a jacaranda. Jacaranda grow all over in Pretoria and Johannesburg. It is much more purple.
@TimeOutForMe yes, and Brisbane, Australia. But they came from S. Africa originally I believe
@girlwithsmiles of you seen those trees here this time of year, lining the pavements and streets with purple, you'll think its indigenous to South Africa.
