ATTENTION.... ATTENTION

...Whichever candidate loses, he is not allowed to say......."But..... but we won the popular vote!"... LMAO

We Democrats had enough of that whining in 20. It is time to grow up now.

I agree with those who say we should do away with the electoral college and go with the popular vote. Every person's vote should be equal to everyone else's. 🙂

I'm beginning to agree. And up until now, I have been a staunch defender of the original provisions of the Constitution. But the Electoral College was just a compromise between those who wanted a popular vote and those who wanted the House to choose the president; there's nothing sacred about it. And it's clearly broken when every election has been coming down to just 5 or 6 states to decide.

Totally agree, removes another level of election manipulation. Time for it to go.

@Paul4747 We actually should transition from states to just one country, with laws that apply to everyone, everywhere. This mismash of laws from state to state worked when you had to ride a horse, but in the 21st century, we need to redo the whole constitution and state thing.

@AtheistInNC That's federalism, though. Americans have always been wary of too much power concentrated in one place.
The contradiction recently, of course, has been Republicans ignoring their own president claiming to have "total power", because.... well, they don't have any good reason, they just want to stay in power and are afraid to upset his base, which, as we see, is substantial, against any rational sense.

@Paul4747 I guess I'm for federalism, then.

I'm kinda getting fed up with the caricature of Democrats who point out that both Trump and Bush were minority presidents (in the sense that a minority of the electorate voted for them, not that they did a damn thing for minorities) as "whining". It's a bitch move on conservatives' part to pretend that they won some kind of popular mandate or great victory when in fact they squeaked by on a technicality.

On the other hand, you are following the Trumpian tradition of "When I don't have a valid point, just insult somebody."

I know facts hurt.

@St-Sinner Which is why you hate being reminded that (altogether now) HILARY CLINTON WON THE POPULAR VOTE

@Paul4747
We cannot change the rules of the game when we lose. That is not how the game is played. This game has successfully played in the American democracy over 200 years.

Past time to get rid of the Electoral Collage , It isn't working FOR the PEOPLE , as it was supposed to do .

Maybe it is not working for Democrats.

That depend on which State one resides in.

@St-Sinner You mean, the majority of the people?

And by the way, the majority have voted D in House and Senate elections for well over decades; yet due to gerrymandering, the Republicans have managed to protect their seats there too. Republicans are the minority party. Deal with it.

@Paul4747
No the Democrats. Others are not complaining. If you don't like the game and rules, don't play.

The better alternative is get better players other than the old, frail, worn out, uninspiring and unappealing ones we got like Hillary and Biden.

It just shows it is time to nix the electoral college. If you want the "will of the people", you have to count the votes, not the whims of a group that may or not be voting correctly

Someday you may realize that we never were a Democracy, we have always been a Constitutional Republic.

@Alienbeing I already knew that. Not sure why you felt it necessary to voice it though?

@AtheistInNC It was necessary because you said you felt it was necessary to do away with the Electoral College. That told me you either didn't know we were a Republic, not a democracy, or you didn't know why we are a Republic.

The only people who want a democracy are those that are OK with being subjects of NY, and CA irrespective of where they live.
