When I was a kid we were taught that Squanto pretty much showed the Pilgrims how to live off the land, including how to fish, what berries to eat and that planting corn with a dead fish as fertilizer yielded better results. While there may have been a peaceful 'first Thanksgiving' where native Americans and Pilgrims shared a meal, what came later is nothing short of genocide.
