I was born in Georgia and have lived here all my life. I have no use for a confederate flag. I never lived in the confederacy. I have no idea nor do I care if any of my ancestors lived in the confederacy. If any of my ancestors supported the confederacy I'd just as soon not know about it.
The confederate flag was never used as a flag of the United States nor any state (though several have incorporated it into their state flag) nor was it the flag of the actual Confederate States of America. The confederate flag was one of the flags used by the Confederate Army during the Civil War.
The confederate flag is not my heritage. It is a symbol of treason, racism, and slavery and has been adopted by white supremacists and supported by the KKK. The Confederate States of America were a foreign nation and an enemy nation of the United States. The confederacy fought against the nation that I live in. The confederacy turned its back on the U.S. and then waged war on the U.S. so as far as I'm concerned that makes them traitors.
SCOTUS dealt with Cuomo’s recent attempt to nullify part of the First Amendment.
....
A search says the law he signed banned its sale on state property.
And because it has been used as a "hate symbol." It isn't the flag of any nation but a symbol that has been used for segregation and white supremacy.
What the hell does anyone need with a Confederate flag? What message does such a flag possibly suggest in out modern times. Yet, there are 2 or 3 of these flags within a mile of me in small town Missouri. In my area Trumpers somehow connect these flags with their movement.
Somehow?. The connection is obvious. Trump is racist. They are racist. The Fit is perfect for them
