My arm was sore like a flu shot for a day or 2. I had a low grade headache for a couple of days, about 2/10 on the pain scale, resolved with Tylenol. Plesse tell your friends that all my colleagues in hospital medicine are scheduling themselves to get it, and plan to get it for our children as soon as possible. Doctors (and nurse practitioners like me) don't inject their children with unsafe vaccines.

@Emerald Thanks. There is a lot of misinformation out there, including a fear that medical professionals are shining on problems with the vaccine in an attempt to trick people into taking it. Anecdotal evidence, coupled with stats, seems like the best response.

There is a real fear in the black community around this; at least in part related to historical events like the Tuskegee Study. I have a suspicion that there are regressive elements like white nationalists, and maybe Russian hackers that are promoting these ideas on line targeting the black community for nefarious motives. I guess time will tell. But I want my friends to do the best they can to start safe against a virus that is hurting their community more than mine.

I will pass on your experience where appropriate.

@Kenoaks i worked in clinical research and the Tuskegee study guides everything that happens so the Tuskegee nightmare can't be repeated. But I would ask these folks to what end would doctors lie about the vaccine? Its the same one we are all taking, so if it harms the public, it harms us as well.

@Emerald Populations affected by trauma are ready to believe the worst in regards to their oppressors intentions about them. Why wouldn't they? What you know about practice as a clinical researcher is not common knowledge. I doubt folks in the black community would ever guess that the effects of Tuskegee have had that effect. And such fear makes people ready targets for propaganda.

Poo- pooing such a fear is not likely to allay fears. I don't know what the best way is in regards to dealing with propaganda, but I'm going with taking concerns seriously and responding with a reality base. But we are not as rational as we might believe ourselves to be. It's a tough one for sure! So your response, the personal testimonial of medical professionals, and I would say if possible, black medical professionals, can help. That is the approach of Jerome Adams, currently the Surgeon General, and the most prominent black medical doctor. Trusted celebrities might help as well.

@Wisterious It depends on what she is using to post. I have zero trouble entering text with my computer, but she maybe using some kind of cell phone and it is anything like mine, texting is very cumbersome.
