Understanding the role of Billionaire John Malone, Liberty Media and iHeartMedia (formerly Clear Channel) in undermining the election results and inciting rebellion:

  • "...the company owns more than 850 full-power AM and FM radio stations in the U.S., making it the country's largest owner of radio stations. The company has also been involved in internet radio and podcasting via the digital platform iHeartRadio (from which the company derives its current name). ...."
  • Levin, Savage, Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh apparently have shows on their stations (if this wikipedia information is up to date and accurate). I'm not sure about other right wing pundit ringleaders, nor do I know which of those five has supported this hideous and totally needless undermining of US Law, other than from what I've read Limbaugh is part of it.
  • Liberty Media (founded by Trump supporter, Billionaire, and possibly largest private land owner in the US, John Malone) is apparently a major shareholder in iHeartMedia:

a recent filing though I"m not sure how this impacts the ownership stake.

I'd like to see a real effort by progressive political activists to hold these companies (Liberty Media, iHeart Media and the German company Allianz SE which also appears to be a major shareholder in iHeart Media) and Malone to account through such methods as:

shareholder activism,
boycotts of advertisers,
favoritism toward those advertising on competitors' platforms,
shaming through general discussion and articles,
and any other above-board means that can be used to see if the companies and Malone can be influenced toward a goal of less toxic programming.

Malone, these companies and their all-star right-wing radio show hosts appear to have impacted greatly the events that have unfolded with Trump, and yet, so far, I have heard little-to-nothing about this, anywhere. (note: since it's an early/under-developed topic, maybe I don't have some of it right yet as to who the players are.)

If the court systems in the US do conclude that there has been significant illegal incitement to insurrection and rebellion violence in the US, although generally I think we should err on the side of free speech, in this case I do think questions have to be asked about whether any of the radio show hosts have provably exhorted their listeners to such violence; as well there could be an examination of whether any violations of FCC or election law regulations have taken place.

Clear Channel's programming is mostly made up of two things I hate, country music and right wing talk radio.

Both are poison to the ears!🙉

@Canndue You got it!

@TomMcGiverin great minds think alike
