Individual rights are human rights. You don't sacrifice the individual for the whole, unless you voluntarily sacrifice yourself, you cannot force others to do so.

This is very much an american philosophy and it causes you nothing but grief because very often individual rights conflict with community rights eg gun ownership. Instead of preaching individual rights why not step back a bit and think about the concept of individual and community RESPONSIBILITIES. Maybe then you'd have good health care, social welfare, minimum wages, fewer homeless etc. LIKE MOST OF THE BLOODY CIVILIZED WESTERN WORLD. Your Bill of Rights is a curse you fail to recognise because you've been braiwashed to think it is a good thing in the same way as others are brainwashed to believe in god.

@Thirst2learn Is that all you took from that?

Some individuals use their individual rights that deny others individual's rights.

@Thirst2learn where does everyone on Earth have freedom to enjoy their individual right to there own brick home, business and property free from mortgage, free from rent, free from taxation free from governmental terrorism and free from religious oppression?

Any governmental official that wants to have his income, health care, retirement and housing provided by taxation forced up on any individual is violating that individuals rights to be free from governmental taxation.

@Thirst2learn If you by any means support capitalism slavery, then you support what you are calling nonsense.

@Thirst2learn no capitalism is minimum wage slave labor so some owners can get rich doing nothing to make sure everyone has a million billion trillion unlimited dollars in their individual personal bank account.

@Thirst2learn capitalism forces people against their will to pay property tax just to own as home.

@Thirst2learn Capitalism slavery uses the force of necessity for requiring money for even the basic basic living.

Capitalism slavery force is contingent people needing to do at minimum, a minimum wage capitalism slavery job just to have money to function in a capitalism money controlled religion.

@Thirst2learn religious text dictates that people are required to have Identification for taxation and government control if buying and selling.

that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark or the name of the beast or the number of his name. Revelations 13:17

Beast is metaphor for laws of government.

Laws of government by religious dictates and requirements are requiring identification for buy and selling.

You cannot get a bank account with out identification. You need as bank account to use debt/credit cards.

Religious establishment of capitalism slavery.

@Thirst2learn to own a "legal" business you must file paying incorporation taxes

@Thirst2learn to own a "legal" business you must have identification credentials showing who you are to verify you identify and pay incorporation taxes and fees for business certificates. Where can I own my own grocery store, bank, insurance company with out being required to have identification and be able to be 100% tax free?

@Thirst2learn. This is a good video to understand how capitalism slavery evolved from forced labor to force by necessity with the "apparence " of freedom.

I'm not sure what to think of this. It seems as if this is demonizing the idea that a society should work together and think of each other and the greater good. Thinking only of yourself and your own needs seems selfish and immoral to me.

I'm not saying that the rights of minorities should be denied whatsoever. But a minority is not an individual. And denying rights to someone is not in the greater good for everyone. Usually, denying rights is about bigotry, discrimination, and maintaining power and social status.

As with most everything, something taken to extreme is harmful, including both individualism and collectivism.

Okay, sure. Everyone is a minority in some way, but when we refer to minorities we typically refer to groups that are marginalized and discriminated against (i.e.: black people, gay people, immigrants, latinos, transgendered people).

So, I'm not really sure what point this post is trying to make. Sure, in certain circumstances everyone is in the minority. But so what?

@Thirst2learn I said nothing about violating anyone's rights. It would be helpful if you gave examples of individual rights being violated for the greater good.

@Thirst2learn Yes, we call that "theft" and it is illegal and punishable by time in prison. It's a violation of someone's rights hence why it is a criminal offense. But no one is saying that getting robbed is for the greater good.

@Thirst2learn Taxes are a part of U.S. law and has absolutely nothing to do with "individual rights". You do not have the right to not be taxed. If you don't want to be taxed then quit your job, don't own a house or a car, and never purchase anything ever again. But if you wish to belong to society then paying taxes is the fee that is required. And you have some say in taxes through your vote in local and state elections. Few people LIKE taxes but we all have to pay them.

@Thirst2learn Okay, I'm out. You're not interested in having a serious discussion. The only way you'll be able to not pay taxes is to go live in a cave in the woods or move to someplace that is lawless. Good luck with that.
