I really appreciate this stand, taken by American Atheists. As a staunch defender of 1st Amendment rights for ALL, this is a sort of creed for me:

Shrinking the Tent: How American Atheists Won’t Tolerate Intolerance
"The current tolerance for bigotry has exposed the fact that although the largest roadblock to equality is religion, not all bigots are religious. Some of them are atheists. If you are an atheist who believes that it is possible to march with Nazis and still be a good person, we don’t want you. If you are an atheist who believes that the white supremacist point of view may sometimes be reasonable, then we don’t want you. If you are an atheist who believes that discrimination because of race, gender, or sexual orientation is sometimes acceptable, then we don’t want you."

Question: how do you feel about us atheists that are also Socialists? Uneducated and misinformed Christian Americans call us "godless communists" even though the first Christians are communist by nature (acts 2)... not that I'm defending the bible, just pointing out the hypocrisy therein...
if you're talking about the desire to care for society, beliefs are really irrelevant. And even atheists can be more libertarian and against caring for society.
Your stance on these issues fall on the correct side, but atheism is a non-acceptance of a god; it's not a club. Just because they have one thing in common with you doesn't mean they will share any other commonalities with you. An atheist can be a bigot, a humanist cannot.
i've been learning that over the past few years...
nazis were catholic . why do you think the jews were persecuted silly ! I would say educate the meanies not repudiate them.
Might as well get rid of those bad apples now before the whole bunch is ruined.
