A father said to his “You graduated with honors, here is a car I acquired many years ago. It is several years old. But before I give it to you, take it to the used car lot downtown and tell them I want to it and see how much they you."

The went to the used car lot, returned to her father and said, “They offered me $1,000 because it looks very worn out.”

The father said, ”Take him to the pawn shop.” The went to the pawn shop, returned to her father and said,”The pawn shop offered $100 because it was a very old car.”

The father asked his to go to a car club and show them the car. The took the car to the club, returned and told her father, "Some people in the club offered $100,000 for it since it’s a Nissan Skyline R34, an iconic car and sought out after many.”

The father said to his ,”The right place values you the right way, If you are not valued, do not be angry, it means you are in the wrong place. Those who know your value are those who appreciate you. Never stay in a place where no one sees your value."

That’s really nice, some fathers must be very wise 🙂

The real moral of the story is, most people are out to rip you off.

My only question is why, if multiple people offer you 100 grand for the same item, you came home with that item instead of a check.

@1of5 A check can bounce.

@yvilletom yes, it can. That just proves @barjoe 's point, though.

@dave1459 or 50,000.

@1of5 he hasn’t given it to them yet 😉

@girlwithsmiles because a smart kid that graduated with honors would have sold it for 100,000 grand 😉

@1of5 Whoa, “smart ass”! (from your bio)

You attack my comment — saying it just proves @barjoe’s point — when it points out your blunder — accepting a check. ( big grin. I too can be a smart ass. )

@1of5 not that smart if he’s stealing it instead of waiting for the imminent gifting! Sounds kind of stupid to me, betraying his wise father’s trust when he’s just about to give him something special.
But hey, if ripping off someone that loves you is your idea of smart?! I guess we have very different ideas of success and I’ll stick with mine ta.

@girlwithsmiles smart? Whats more use to someone starting out in life? Something worth 100 grand that does something a thing worth 20 grand can do just as well (with the added risk of one wrong turn destroying it) or a 100 grand nest egg to begin life with? I would think a wise father would know this.

Betrayal?? Its supposedly a gift, right? Kid can do anything they want with it - why are you assuming the kid has the time, will, and capital to restore it? Its described as looking old and worn out.

And really, tying self worth to what people will pay you is kinda fucked up, in my book.

@yvilletom write a bad check for 100 grand and see how smart you look. Try it, go ahead. You can even write it to me if you like.

@dave1459 which changes all the time, and the more miles it has on it the lower the demand

@1of5 I’m not sure if you read the OP again? But no he sent him to those places BEFORE giving him the vehicle. The vehicle had not been gifted yet...hence my comments.
