For one week, I have watched these videos from Germany, The NordStory. They are in German and show the northern part of Germany where tourists never visit. I have cried buckets of tears from homesickness, but that is a good thing. Dammed up tears are bad for the immune system.
This video shows living on a Hallig, those tiny little islands in the middle of the North Sea. The Halligen are Land Unter, under water, several times a year. Life here is not for snowflakes. Take a peek!

Ich wohnte in erlin binahe sechig Jqhren verher. Diese Erfarung veranderte meine ganzes Leben, unddie Erinergen sindso klar and warm.

Ich kannte Berlin nur aus Bildern. The Iron Curtain was up, and I was not allowed to travel there.

@Spinliesel Berlin at that time was a very special place. Berliners had been through a nyprinflation in the 1920 and the collapse of the Weimar Republic, then the Nazi regime and World War II. in the 1950s and 1960s Russia was constantly treatneing to attack West Berlin and take it over. Under those circumstances, the Berliners wanted to build for the future, but felt the need to live in the moment, given the Russian threat. The way that they lived was much like a connoisseur of fine brandy snifting the aroma and savoring the bouquet. They lived in the moment, not trying to cram life in, but taking that which came and enjoying the little things. It was a remarkable place and time.
