Who says I'm not adventurous?? I rode out Hurricane Irma in my car. All the shelters in my area were full so I thought WTF?! A cheap thrill. Behind the house in front of me across the street from mine is a deep water canal to Tampa Bay with many boats and yachts tied up. But I was never scared of any flooding even though I'm supposedly in a mandatory evacuation zone. If I die, I die. Nobody cares anyway. At least not in my area of the world.

There's a real Floridian, hurricane coming screw it, I'm busy. I rode out Irma down here and it wasn't as bad as predicted. Went thru Charley in 2008, ex-wife was watching out the front window watch stuff fly around. I'm a veteran hurricane survivor, I have bragging rights.

I'm a veteran of Hurricane Andrew. I rode it out. The dead center of the eye passed directly over my estate home in Homestead Redland district. Took $60K damage to home in 1992 dollars. That was August 24th. The power grid out in the Redland had to be completely rebuilt from scratch. They couldn't salvage anything. We didn't get commercial power back until the afternoon of Oct 31st, Halloween. A line crew from Alabama hooked us back up. Then finally 2 days before Thanksgiving, we got our dial-tone back for phone service. Luckily we were on a water well and I had installed a hand pitcher pump just a couple of months before. So we had water.
