I'm taking a much-needed break from life today. I'm a really social person, however I need alone time every once in a while to recharge. I sat on my deck in the sunshine, watched movies, enjoyed some adult beverages and other adult things.
What do you do to recharge?
Alone, recharge time is important for me too. I typically like to be outside as my job keeps me inside most of the time. It can be a simple walk through my neighborhood, a hike or mountain bike ride in the hills near me or reading a book on the back deck while enjoying a neat whiskey.
I can get grouchy if I don't do this for myself regularly.
I recharged today by binge listening to Queens of the Stone Age, while cleaning up my place, after letting it go for about a week, having been utterly obsessed with bass and drums. Later, I put on my headphones and spent a couple of hours on youtube music videos, mostly ones I was already familiar with. It was 6:30 pm when I realized I hadn't eaten at all. Lol.
And bass and drums.
I recharge so often, I'm almost at a perpetual full charge. I sometimes don't leave the house for days and days, or if I do go out, it's a quick hit. I literally went out today with no makeup since Thursday and no shave since Sunday. "That'll be $5.55, ma'am" put me in a damn good place.
I'm in the process of making new friends, and starting from scratch on that front. Although I've met and friended some amazing local people lately, my connection to the outside world remains mostly via social media and texting my bf and gf. I spend a hell of a lot of time alone since my ex left, and the experience is hauntingly familiar. I was an only child and Navy brat.
So I guess I recharge by being alone most of the time, and doing almost exactly what I want to do.
Almost.
