I ended up with a Facebook friend who is evidently one of those so-called Patriots and he sent this to me today by Facebook messenger even though good Patriots are going to get off Facebook.

Yikes! She's scary . . . making me aware how evil she thinks progressives are. If I follow her suspicions, I would be moral if I would get a gun and shoot myself, because I'm so evilly progressive-minded. She talks of freedom, but she is not willing to give any progressive the benefit of the doubt. Assume the worst, and you understand where she is coming from.
She thinks she is everything good (what a narcissist). She believes those like her have to actively defend themselves (even by having guns) against those who feel and think differently. Those like her make it so personal - they stand for everything good, we stand for everything evil. How simple and cut and dried their 'truth' is.

Her calmness as she speaks of violence is more than chilling but she otherwise reminds me of a narcissist who 16 years ago won election to chair a membership organization. He was educated and smooth, and some of its members became almost slaves to him. Had he not been a narcissist, he might have become one of its best leaders.
Eight years earlier in better times I had been that organization’s parliamentarian and the quickness with which some of its “unenslaved” members started organizing to resist him pleased me. They took a while to learn the importance of educating other members to win them as allies but they did succeed.
The stakes here are vastly higher and it’s vastly more important to remain calm.

Yes, calmness is important, so as not to alarm them, and thus cause violent reactions. Calmness also helps to focus on the objective(s).
Her “patriotic” fervor is the same used by Christian Nationalists, Nazis, and haters everywhere. And it is that way because it’s very effective at sucking in people who blindly follow what they perceive as the “truth.” It is why millions of people go to church/mosque/temple every week to be brainwashed again and again. Once they are hooked, getting people to see any other point of view is all but impossible.
