It was President Obama who lifted the ban on even the study of possible uses for these hallucinogens. There is great promise in these studies. The RepuDlicans don't want any change other than more tax benefits for the rich & the corporate.

SciAmer is fairly late to this game; been following it for about a year now on some other sites

Yea, I have been following it for years, at least 9. I learned about the tests 9 years ago after many years fighting my own demons and getting them and my depression under control, I was too late, helped too early, to get into the trials.

The use of psychedelics is slowly becoming more used. Not common by any means. They've been tested for a number of years. They work, if properly trained people administer them.
The way the American health system works is - lots of prejudices against new stuff and, of course, up front costs.
Upfront costs are high with the initial usage - BUT, if it takes, instead of a month or more of hospitalization the patient doing psychedelics is usually out in less than 2 weeks. Thus, the use of psychedelics can be much cheaper in so many ways - hospital costs, loss of work, etc.

i think many at least far eastern countries have been prescribing lsd for years?

Several psychedelics have been studied in the past few years with truly amazing results. Ketamine is used in clinics currently for PTSD, depression, and more. For those that don't get results with traditional meds it can be life changing.
