When I first started on this site some 3 years ago, most of the posts are genuine personal personal expressions of opinions, thoughts, , issues and concerns. Now the majority seem to be images, events, and statements taken from others. There seems yo be fewer genuinely personal expressions. That is quite a difference.

I have been here a little over three years and I agree with you. Many of the people I knew here have left or spend more time on the Agnostic group on FB.

content feels empty now. just news for points. pitiful really.

Oh my giddy aunt yes.

When I arrived, goodness it was way back last July, it was a seething hot bed of vibrant how do you do and how's your father.

These days I can barely raise a thumb let alone the finger in salute.

I think a lot of us haven't liked this trend. It has been Facebookized it seems it me, though I don't use Facebook. The focus is more middle of the road, politics, non religion, etc compared to 3-4 years ago. It reflects Admin, in my view.

Yes...there seems to have been an increase in replicating posts from political commentators and posting of memes. No real effort at dialogue, research, or original thought necessary, which I find sad. I call that merely a “click and collect” (points) exercise...maximum reward for minimum effort!

Unfortunately, not everyone has a plethora of personal stories/experiences they feel are worth relating. Fortunately or unfortunately my life has been one of 'living in interesting times' and recounting some of my experiences not only helps me to recount them but make connections I had previously missed. I continue to learn things about my late partner I had not seen before. This lack of knowledge has become an issue of regret.

That's the way the web is going as a whole. Plus there are more old established members now who may have shot all their bolts.

Couple of things have happened I think. The atheist - agnostic divide isn't as open as it once was. Still there, but people keep to their corners more now, and apart from the occasional flare up i don't think as much baiting goes on. For myself I leave it alone, and in cases of aggressive agnostics I just block. Not many, but problem solved. Also, at the beginning of the site there were open touting Trumpsters causing flame ups; not now much. Also, the site initially attracted a lot of committed atheists and agnostics, but now it's more like Facebook fleers and general social media types, some looking for dates, others to just spruke on what interests them. The site hasn't evolved as i might have hoped, and frankly I think the only thing that Admin cares about now is numbers, so watering it down to humanist.com and the rest reflects this.
