Who knows about socks? I have not to date found a quality sock they are more like disposable than reusable seems they wear out in just 1 day. Have even tried bamboo socks nothing seems to last. Perhaps a mail order darner service would work.

I wear hiking socks made of at least 50% wool. The thicker the better. They are more expensive, but they're durable and comfortable.

Chec the inside of your shoes for roughness & snags!

That was certainly part of the problem, they would get full off rubbish, soil, water, woodchips ever day, in addition to goiing up and down the biggest local mountain each day, they copped rough treatment. Yet other socks did survive longer. Bamboo were the best for comfort.

Maybe look for kevlar or carbon fiber socks? 😛

I really like (year round) Omniwool Merino Wool socks.

Wow! In one day?
My son loves socks for some reason, and I'm not joking when I say he probably has 80+ pairs of them. He recommends Adidas.

I bought a pair of Adidas sneakers once lasted all of 2 weeks. Rebok seems to last a bit longer at least on my feet.

I like my Denali hiking socks, Green Treat dress socks and a couple of pairs of thick holeproof wonder socks that I just can't seem to wear out, although they are a bit rough. I've had them all for a couple of years, the hiking socks over 5.

They are made that way so you can buy more socks, it is called marketing !

Also tried bamboo socks, was very disappointed. Comfor was great, shortest lived socks in history.

Really? I love mine and they're still going strong; they're by Green Treat.

@girlwithsmiles sounds good, I loved the sox. Maybe I am just too rough on them, I worked outdoors, in boots in swamps and up mountains.

Sockdreams.com specifically these [sockdreams.com]
But they have all kinds of fun socks. Of course they don't last forever, but what is life if you can't have fun socks?

Check out Stance socks. They were one of the first to add in a bit if spandex, making them quite comfy. I've also found they last a long time - my oldest pair is probably 6 years old. And you can get some funky patterns!

I knit my own and wear those when I need sturdy socks.

Thought about making some out of chainmail like the knights had.

I travel quite a bit. Sitting for hours can be wearing so I use TravelOn socks. They help with circulation and they are well made.

I prefer Gold Toe Socks for overall quality, but a number of factors can go into how long any sock lasts.

1

Nike socks are pretty good. I usually buy the black ones. They last a long time for me. I think I have like 12 pair and only 1 of them developed a hole. Gotta clip those nails too.

1

just darn them by hand.

Those darn holie socks. Now there are darned I should feel better.

@azzow2 rubberband, needle, thread, lightbulb all you need.

@engineer_in_nj what about the blow torch you forgot to add that.

I've had good luck with Wolverine boot socks, I don't have much problems with my feet though (other than they are ugly.).

1

Features make some very good socks. they're wool, meant for runners (thus, you can find them at a running store). there's even a left sock and a right sock 🙂

I like that king especially after the laundry monster eats them.

Hey Marvin, you should look for socks that don't runaway on their own accord. I've got a cupboard drawer full of unpartnered, unmatching socks.

I suspect, that socks have a gender though I can't tell which is which. One of the partners does a runner.

Anyway I hope my drawer of unpartnered socks will produce some sockettes.

Good luck with the sock hunt!

My husband likes Macy's POLO and Alfani dress socks. The white socks for tennis are those yellow toe things. I think he gets them at SAM's.

Alfani, I just put a pair in my Amazon cart am going to try them.

I feel the same way about sheets. It's been YEARS since I've found decent sheets, despite the thread count.

Action packed sheets lol

I have found recently that cheaper sheets tend to last longer than more expensive sheets. While worse for the environment in the long run, polyester microfiber is lighter, softer, and doesn't ball like its cotton equivalents.

@azzow2 LOL....uhm wat?
"Action packed" is WAY more fun on quality 600ct+ or true satin sheets 😉

@Qualia I have satin on mine too have to have something soft in my bed to feel sleeping alone.

"People's Socks" are really nice, but they're heavy/thick. That's one of the things I look for at auctions- new old stock vintage socks. Look for the Union Label.

I'd like to know too. I wear Stance socks, but even those get holes pretty quickly.

As much as Walmart is evil and must be destroyed, I buy my socks there.
I usually buy Hanes brand, or No Nonsense brand,. I beat the hell out of mine.
Within a short time (8-12 weeks), I start putting holes in them.
However, at about $8 per 6-pack, I don't feel too terrible about throwing them away when
they are too bad to wear. There is no way I'm going to pay more than that for socks.
I also hang onto a couple to use as dusting rags. They're really good for cleaning the blades
on the ceiling fans. Hope that helps.

I have a running tab on eBay. I stopped buying the expensive ones they ware out just as fast.

"As much as Walmart is evil and must be destroyed"
I love that part so much 🙂

@azzow2 I'm not really a fan of eBay. I rarely purchase anything off that site. I'd rather give my business to Walmart. No-Nonsense is made in the USA (if that matters to you) and Hanes supports the National Park Service.

@KKGator Was a Hanes fan for years in the underwear department. Then I got my hands or rather but in some Duluth once you go Duluth you never look back.

Take the cheese graters off your feet.

I have a belt sander.

1

What is going on with your feet that your socks don't last a day?

New socks big toe on my left foot peeking through at the end of the day just about every day.
