Sounds like a great idea to me.
40 years ago I worked on marina 2 summers. We were about 2 acres but we didn't work with any plants, let alone trees. And a lot of our space was boat slips.
I can't think of any reason why this wouldn't work. Bad weather could be a challenge, but it would also likely be fun.
