Much of medicine today is based on pharmaceuticals that mask symptoms but do nothing to eliminate the root cause, which is often simply the failure of humans to maintain a healthy diet and get enough physical activity to promote health.

We would have been if the Catholic Church had not sent out crusades against science and medicine calling them Heathen Magic in the middle ages and had not been so keen on burning thinkers as heretics, burning books as unholy and burning midwives as witches and putting to the torch everything else they considered a threat to mother church or more specifically her income.
