I think this is a wonderful photo; a Pulitzer Prize-winning photo actually.

'Faith and Confidence'
Freezing forever a moment of childhood innocence

Photographer William C. Beall captured a moment between a 2-year-old boy and a police officer in Washington, DC, that similarly captured the hearts of readers of the Washington Daily News when the photo was published in 1957. Beall was at a parade in Chinatown when a young Allen Weaver got too close to the dragons dancing down the street. Police officer Maurice Cullinane instructed Weaver to back up for his own safety, engaging him in a polite conversation immortalized on film.

I note that the kid is white.

So?

@Ryo1 so...police officers of that period (or now, for that matter) did not have the same relationship with black children.

@deepeddy If you say so... This is art. This is humanity. This is not politics. That's how I see this photo, anyway.

Sadly, this would never happen today. Cops are no longer approachable or caring. They'd be armed to the teeth and unbending.

If you, who live in America, say so, I can only take your word for it. It isn't quite the same in England, I'm pleased to say.
