I lived in LA and the San Fernando Valley from 1946 thru 1970 when it started going really bad. Remember Michael Douglas in the 1993 movie "Falling Down". That's how I felt every day with my commute from West L.A. to Monrovia and back home. 32 miles was 2.5 hours bumper to bumper, and the temperatures hadn't even gone up to 95 yet. Now the temps reach 117 in the shade, with no rain in sight.
One thing that really gets me is seeing all the giant water sprays used to water plants going off in the middle of the day. Seems like a large portion of the water being shot up in the air simply evaporates before landing on the plants. Normally a better time would be in the early morning or evening when it is cooler.
I had a question about cows milk versus almond milk and looked it up. Bottom line any animal based food is the worst for this planet (and the animals).
"Considering this is one of the few valid points we found in the article, we’ll just get this one out of the way first. Yes, it takes quite a bit of water to produce almond milk, but when you really look into it, dairy is still worse. Specifically, it requires 30 gallons of water to produce one glass of milk – in comparison, it only requires 23 gallons of water to produce a glass of almond " from [onegreenplanet.org]
Try oat milk, grains take much less water to bring to maturity.
Bottom line any animal based food is the worst for this planet (and the animals). Really. This is preposterous. Perhaps you mean factory farmed animals. Then I can agree with you. Does anyone ever mention the zillions of pet dogs and cats often produced by pet factories many of which end up being destroyed because there are too many. And then there is the fact that dogs and cats are obligate carnivores and must eat animal products or die. In other words, your pets are addicted by biology to animal based food. The pet industry is unsustainable and the most dangerous thing to pets is the pet owners who want to keep animals as pets. I know. Not a popular idea. Anything about that that isn't true.
@OldGoat43 I agree but was only addressing almond milk. How about cashew milk or hemp, flax milks. Seems more and more are coming on the market.
@Healthydoc70 May be partially true. Dog can be and I have known some that are vegetarian. Cats not so much. I have also heard the organic, free-range bit. Since many farms here offer meat people justify eating it. I always ask if they go to the mainland do they become vegetarian. So far no answer. Problem is no matter how the animal is raised there is still a large impact from feed, water, waste and there is still often cruelty. Why follow this lifestyle when there are so many and better alternatives?
Also, I was talking about food not pets.I have no pets and support those who advocate for more responsible ownership.
@JackPedigo sorry Jack Dogs are wolves. There are no vegetarian dogs, only owners who feed them a vegetarian diet which is irresponsible and very harmful to the dog. Those dogs will get sick and die sooner than they normally would.
@Healthydoc70 Dogs are domesticated wolves. I would ask if there was no meat available would dogs than all die (is cat shit meat?). The dog owners I have known that have fed their dogs a vegetarian diet were acting in the dogs best interests. Those dogs were more healthy and did live a normal life. If it is a more healthy lifestyle for humans why not dogs. Bottom line is, a vegetarian diet is more healthful for most. It is the carni's denial that keeps trying to obfuscate the obvious.

Stop drinking almond milk ( nut juice) or buy almonds
I sipped almond milk once and found it was horrible.
I like walnuts, and wile I don't dislike almonds, I can't remember the last time I bought them.
Thanks for sharing this video. I like Bill Maher's show. Complaining about a situation do nothing to fix a problem. I hope he comes with fresh ideas of how to help CA state.
Actually, he did.
He listed several.
