330,000 years ago, during a period of dramatic climate changes in Africa, a new species of homimid emerged, which supplanted homo erectus (ergaster).
Think on that, my friends .....
Can you provide more details?
It's a long article, but the information in it can be put together.
I have been to Olorgesaillie many times. It was only around 30 miles from where I lived. The site is fascinating!
Is there a link perhaps?
To Petter. Who knows? His ancestry is Norwegian - English so he could have anything in his DNA!
@FrayedBear You forgot to mention my Kenyan heritage.
Also, that although I speak excellent English, I have no British blood in me.
@Petter I thought that your mother was English?
@FrayedBear Nope. Half Swiss and half South African. Educated in France, then England. Like me, grew up in the British colony of Kenya.
@Petter Well the English are a mongrel race. Must be remembering you saying your mother had English education & mistook it for origin.
Still it possibly makes my comment even more appropriate as to what is in your DNA.
How are you? We haven't conversed for a long time.
@FrayedBear Fine thanks. Currently in Italy, visiting my sister.
My cancer is still static, just lying in wait, as it has done for some seven years.
How about you?
@Petter Travelling a little when not in lock down. Survived a micro sleep head-on collision at combined estimated 180kph speed 7 weeks ago - the sound bumps in the middle of the road woke me up & I got back to my side missing the oncoming 30 tonne truck at 5am after 500+ klms driven through the night on no sleep. Missed 3 trips because of lockdowns. My next trip lockdowns permitting is 3 weeks away.
3 weeks ago had my day made by a young woman who, with her platform heels, was at least three inches taller than my 6'. Her gracious rejoinder to my telling her that she was beautiful proved my opinion. About an hour later it dawned on me that she was probably still at school! It was a school holiday week.
Are Italians still, as was reported here 12 months ago, falling in the streets from C19?
Apart from lack of exercise & in need of dental work healthwise reasonable. Recently bought first pair of spectacles with the transitional focus from reading up to long distance. I couldn't believe some of the things that I started seeing! As usual my problems stem from stupid people particularly those not wanting to do the jobs that they are paid for.
@FrayedBear italy now has a lower infection rate than many other European countries.
I have had both eyes operated on for cataracts, and now, after years of being short-sighted, have excellent middle and long distance vision. But I need glasses for reading and computing.
I have always had varifocal spectacles, only they now go from zero effect down to 1.5 times for reading.
