Everywhere we go in Italy there are signs similar to this one, taken in a McDonalds.
Basically, no forgery-proof Covid vaccine certificate means no entry to the seating area.
You can only order a take-away.

Great system!

Wow, now there is a novel concept. Safety first who could imagine. 🙄

Italy and Spain both have this law. Any bar, restaurant, museum, art gallery, etc. that does not enforce it is heavily fined and repeat offenders are shut down.
I think some other EU countries have passed the same law.

@Petter And it's a good thing.😉

Where I live, the McDonalds places re-opened their lobbies, after going for many months with only drive thru being open. With the Covid numbers going up again in my state, they will probably go back to just drive thru again sometime soon. I am going to start mostly staying away from dining in restaurants, too much Covid risk, even tho I'm vaxed. I am masking up again when I go to indoor places and may also stop going to karaoke as much. I will continue to go to outdoor concerts, but I'm not sure what I will do this fall when all the music goes back indoors.

I never stopped masking even since I got vaccinated. We have a little baby in the house, and even though mom was vaccinated while pregnant, we don't know how much of that carried to her, and also I was concerned that even being vaccinated we might still be able to transmit, which they have now found to be the case.

What does one do if one doesn't have a smartphone? Is there an alternative, or does one just get takeout?

Paper copies are also available. I carry both.

Italy was decimated by the virus. I suspect we will be seeing this here by time Delta is finished....🤔
I got my first dose of Moderna today.

Good for you.
By the way, Italy now has one of the lowest infection rates in Europe.

Don’t count on it. It will be very difficult to get the Republicans to agree, and Rogue Republican governors will fight it.

@MsKathleen Maybe Darwin's discoveries will yet again be verified by a statistically significant reduction in "rogue Republican governors" and their supporters.

Well, if the COVID doesn’t get them, that shitty food will, just a little slower…

Right

@Canndue
Actually, the Italian McDonalds have excellent coffee, superb cakes and croissants, and high quality food. If they didn't, Italians would shun them.
Maybe Americans are not fussy enough!

@Petter In New Zealand the hamburger was far better quality, there were big signs saying 100% NZ beef.

@Petter Many Americans will gladly eat shit and pay for it. You certainly do with most of the McDonalds menu here in the states, lol....

@Petter I spent many weeks in Italy, going to McDonald’s never crossed my mind. So can’t speak to it. ( though I did have the worst pizza ever over there.)

@Petter Americans are not fussy enough. Most of what they eat is poison.

@Canndue You must have eaten it in Venice. My Italian family warned us about them, so naturally we had to try one. They were right!!
Never-the-less, authentic Italian pizzas are pretty sparse on topping, as they were originally a means of flavouring bread. It took other countries to enhance the toppings and bases.
I'm in Italy right now, and adding more topping to any take-away pizzas after I get them home!

@Petter no, Sasso Marconi, just outside of Bologna. This was one bad restaurant. Rest were very good.
