I'm not a fan of Grant and he's a bit late in his catch reality check on Obama. Mine came early in Obama's first administration when he recycled half of Clinton's droogies, and bailed out Wall Street. Oh, so all that sophistry was just to win, I said to myself. We were taken in, I mean those of us around the world. Obama was strategic but had and has no real passion, except to win the chess game called becoming President. I've heard some on the real Left in America recently call Obama a narcissist, who would anything to keep popular and sacrifice anything and anyone to do it. I suspect that's true. I don't think he's a bad person and wouldn't say that. But he had the opportunity to be a transformational President but instead was just another corporate Democrat.

The wonderful Dr. Cornel West, referred to in the article, has a perfect saying that captures someone like Obama: 'Black faces in high places but nothing changes.' No change for people of colour in America, or working people generally and their lives. Now he's just another rich guy gorging in his wealth, probably more concerned about his Presidential library than anything else. This was exactly the kind of person and President he said he would never be, during his campaign interviews when he ran for President. I know; I watched them and I remember them.

As the late Gore Vidal said about Obama during the 2007 campaign, "He makes wonderful speeches, but what I want to know is, WHAT is he going to do?" Well, we found out. Not much.
