The government of Afghanistan has fallen and now the Taliban are taking over. In the mid 1800's Great Britain attempted several times to control Afghanistan and failed. In the 1980's The Soviet Union also attempted to control Afghanistan and they failed.

After 9-11, President Shrub, knee jerked reaction and led us in to a 20 year war. Which cost lives and billions of dollars. Yet it was unable to build a government in Kabul which was not corrupt nor able to serve its citizens. We wasted our time, money and american lives in this endeavor.

It was doomed from the beginning. We wanted to kill Bin Laden. In the end we did it with a small group of Navy Seals, not with an army or an invasion.

Our military intervention did not build a new Afghanistan. The tribal rivalry's, corruption continued to exist. Yes, it is very unfortunate that the Taliban will most likely led the nation with a medieval iron fist, raining terror on those who do not follow their cruel line of thinking. But the freedom of those who disagree with them, can only be won, by their own struggle against them. We can not win their freedom for them by being their proxy's in war with out their concentrated effort to build a new society without the corruption or tribal rivalry's. They must do this, not a foreign power doing it for them.

Biden did not do a smooth job of leaving and will be justifiably criticized for this. But we should have NEVER been there in the first place. American lives have been lost in vain, but not because we left Afghanistan, but because we never should have been there in the first place.
