My eldest, when he 19, told my girlfriend & her daughter "Sure, my dad is hard but he's always fair." I have had lots of compliments on my job, places I teach, and just general stuff but that one is right at the top.

a kind, blind neighbour, his "seeing eye"dog always howls when he sees me, no matter how far away. So I know they are there, also in order that he is let off his lead and is allowed to come and greet me.

I'm a clinician in a residential mental health facility, and recently I overheard the clients discussing the clinicians. According to them, I'm "the shit." My son assures me that is the highest praise, so I'm going with it.
