In today's Euronews, there was an article about a young Iranian woman being attacked, knocked to the ground and beaten by two female morality police. Her crime was not wearing her headdress properly. This is one of the comments, "Hello everyone,
I am very sad to see things like this happening in my country of origin. I am agnostic and many of compatriots are either agnostic or even atheist. The fact is if one could take off the dark gown of theocracy off Iran, everyone would see a different picture. Many Iranian women including my sisters hate the law of mandatory hair covering. That is actually the reason many people on the streets do not cover their hair completely. They actually want to show their objection to the regime's oppression.
I lived in Western Europe for a decade and I got my postgraduate degrees and valuable experiences there. I am agnostic and many of my compatriots are practically agnostic or even atheist. I praise modernity and rationality of Western European in general. However, I was unfortunately targeted by racial insults. I have mixed feeling about everything in this world but I hope wisdom will prevail someday."

It would be nice, but l look at history and l don't feel very optimistic about it. Sometimes l look at all the people killed in wars and genocide in the last century haven't really fucked up the gene pool.

Iranian women are not taking their oppression lying down. There is a Facebook group called "My Stealthy Freedom" where they post photos of themselves flaunting the mandatory headscarf laws. You can send them your love and messages of support there.

At least prevail to the point that anyone and everyone can live their life as they see fit without fear where religion dominates.
