I can't help but wonder, if Baker Street was the first underground station, how long it took for a second station to be opened in order for an underground train to have somewhere to go underground.

The early underground was hardly 'underground. And smoke was a serious disadvantage. The problem was solved thanks to an American invention - a coupled armature dc motor.
