I would suggest a distinction here: Trump Republicans (the majority) vs. never Trumper Republicans. I have engaged with people on this website and elsewhere who believe that the Republicans who despise Trump and didn’t want him in office were what they (Trumpists) refer to as RINOs (Republicans in name only). But what they seem to overlook is that Trump is not actually a Republican. Rather, he is an opportunist, a populist who bears no resemblance, in values or philosophy, to the historical GOP.

Liz Cheney voted to impeach Trump. Mitt Romney voted against him. George W. Bush and John McCain saw him as incompetent. There are scores of other well-known Republicans who believe that Donald Trump was a hollow man, an imposter. It is these Republicans who all of us should embrace and applaud.

that's why i use the word "republicons" not republicans. but, bush jr., cheney jr, mitt romney, these are not "conservatives" by any means, whatsoever. 3 of the 4 have run for president, the 4th might. i don't see any sustained integrity from the 3 still alive. they made a few votes, on a few issues, that won them political points. their motives are suspect. if you want to talk about the lincoln project, and many others out of office, or in the media, that's reasonable. and, likely millions of voters. that's not the republicons in office, obstructing every single issue, betraying the constitution, corrupting the courts, and traitors to their own country. of course, trump is not a republican, he's a gangster, and a fascist. but, the gop, especially mcconnell, have been 99.9 % behind him, in every meaningful way, in the way they vote, or block any vote, for over 5 years, now. mcconell, more than 10 years. i follow what people do, not what they say. these people are nothing but liars, thieves, war mongers, and climate killers. not to mention nearly 700,000 dead, from a virus we could beat, likely 400,000 deaths were preventable. because of their cowardice, and corruption. of course, there's individual dirty democrats, too. but, the numbers are not even close. the republicon party is "the" dark money party. period. corporate fascism is running this country, and much of the world. until, or unless, true democracy wins, again. it's won very little, over the last 40 years.

@HankHunter13 Let’s examine some ideas of a few prominent Republicans, ideas I can get behind!

"We the people are the rightful masters of both congress and the courts, not to over throw the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who would pervert the Constitution."
Abraham Lincoln

“I believe in a graduated income tax on big fortunes, and a graduated inheritance tax on big fortunes, properly safeguarded against evasion and increasing rapidly in amount with the size of the estate.
— Theodore Roosevelt

The United States at this moment occupies a lamentable position as being perhaps the chief offender among civilized nations in permitting the destruction and pollution of nature. Our whole modern civilization is at fault in the matter. But we in America are probably most at fault … Here in the United States we turn our rivers and streams into sewers and dumping-grounds, we pollute the air, we destroy forests and exterminate fishes, birds and mammals not to speak of vulgarizing charming landscapes with hideous advertisements.”
— Theodore Roosevelt

“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.”
— Dwight D Eisenhower

“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”
— Barry Goldwater, Jr.
