What are you passionate enough about, to participate in peaceful demonstrations and nonviolent resistance. If so, what issue or issues?

Stop killing people

A lot. I have debt to catch up on... but when I am able, I will return to activism. I don’t feel voting, how you spend your money and speaking to representatives is enough for certain issues. I think cessation of fossil fuels is priority number one and I heartily endorse any monkey wrenching on that front. Also, this may be an extreme view for some... but Im okay with property destruction to that end. Swords to plowshares so to speak, but with machines instead of weapons.

I was part of the Women's March after the orange thing's inauguration. I have been at a couple of other gatherings since then. Power in numbers.

In my youth I tended not to attend demonstrations - I prefered to demonstrate alone or in the company of a few like-minded individuals. Such as the time when Russia invaded Czechoslovakia. Dressed in black we broke into the embassy grounds, painted the front wall red, scarpered when the alarm was raised and then spent the rest of the night driving up and down the road outside the embassy gates, playing extracts from "Ma Vlast" (my country) by the czech composer, Smetana, at full volume from a loudspeaker lashed on to the car roof. (The main theme starts around a minute and a quarter in to the YouTube URL below).

Personally, I would participate in a love demonstration. Like the black guy who went to demonstrations and gave people hugs. The police, the demonstrators, random people. I wish we could overlook things like race and genders.

But sadly, people are too consumed with hate and their “peaceful” protest just become rallies and fear/hate-mongering. But, I suppose if we were capable of looking past outward manifestations then we wouldn’t need protests.
