Somebody made that headline up and is truly enjoying all the fuss over the meme now. OK, not good for you and probably even bad for you (I use nothin', but #1 cause of air pollution? I think not. Life goes on.
That would be "indoor" air pollution.
I use twelve wool balls in the dryer, which are very effective and non-toxic. [amazon.com]
I use those, too!

I am allergic to wool and lanolin. So is my daughter Claire and sister.
Lanolin is often in lotions, makeup and lipsticks.
Claire got stitches with lanolin in them. The hospital did not check! Her stiches became severely inflamed and infected.
@LiterateHiker oh my! You must never wear woolens. I used to have a friend who gave me already carded “raw” wool from her sheep, from which I made pin cushions to give away and/or sell. The lanolin is what keeps sewing pins from rusting. Commercially sold wool is lower in lanolin. And commercially sold pincushions have neither wool nor any lanolin.
Would your top scientists approve of the VOCs? Why did you not say this before?
Years ago I heard they were bad for the dryer so I use wool balls.
Me too. About 7 or 8 years ago I bought a bag of six and they are all still in good shape. Before that I used a piece of foil smashed in the shape of a ball. If you want scent, someone could add essential oils to the wool ball.
I don't comment about other's balls.
With adult-onset asthma, I never use products with fragrance. Had to stop using perfume. Even unscented candles trigger my asthma.
Store laundry aisles are a putrid miasma of fake fragrances. Danger!
As are the entrances to department stores. I am allergic to nearly all those scents.
