Just had this idea running through my mind and would like to hear what others think about it
Here goes, we have COVID Anti-vaxxers coming out of the woodwork like cockroaches after the lights are turned off.
They TRY to incite others to refuse to be vaccinated, wear masks, etc, etc, thus, technically speaking, they ARE trying to put the lives of others at risk OR, in actual fact, RISKING the lives of others.
Ergo, and possibly legally, they ARE committing a Crime against ALL Humanity and Human kind since this COVID Virus IS threatening EVERY person on this planet, would you not agree?
Therefore PLACING the life of ANY person on this planet in jeopardy by REFUSING to be vaccinated would be, technically, Committing a Crime Against All Humanity so what we could do is to seek out a Law Firm willing to take on a MASSIVE Class action where we, the Litigants, SUE the Anti-Vaxxers and the Anti-vaxxer Movements, WORLD-WIDE, for Crimes Against Humanity.
Given the Universal awareness regarding COVID, its effects upon people, the economic harm it has caused and will continue to cause for quite some time to come, I estimate that the chances of winning such a Class Action are better than 75% +.
And, IF, some Law Firm were willing to take on such a case and willing to do so on a No Win, No Fees basis then the notoriety that they would receive would be well worth their efforts as well.

I have no time for anti vaxxers. It should just be compulsory unless a person's doctor says otherwise. If governments had just made that so, we'd all be better off. Yes, the numb nuts would have complained, but would have complied. They complained when seat belts became compulsory, and when smoking became forbidden in public places, moaning about their liberties. I remember. Nothing could be enforced like you said, but governments making it compulsory could and should have been done, with big fines for those not complying, just like with seatbelts and smoking. My parents generation who lived through the Depression and WW2 would be appalled at the nonsense we have to endure now.

With almost 8 billion people on earth, Maybe our only way of describing it overall in the end is by population dynamics.
Even if there were no vaccine at all and we didn't know how a mask could help (our state throughout most of history) COVID wouldn't be an extinction event. Some portion of us would survive.
From a cold blooded point of view it might even be beneficial towards events that could cause extinction (climate change for instance).

That said, spreading the disease (failing to stop it) will cause much pain and suffering for individuals within our population. Given that we do have relatively easy actions that could likely drive COVID to its own extinction we'd be foolish not to take those actions.

The trouble is that 'foolish' is a word that accurately describes a lot of us -- along with 'selfish', 'shortsighted', 'tribal' and many other negative words. We've got a lot of growing up to do socially before we can seriously think about enforcing good behavior.

Even if we somehow tried it now, we'd screw it up. Who decides what is 'good'?
I think it should be me but I don't have the time or power.😋

It looks to me that COVID will not end us -- as the Black Death didn't end us. But we do have a difficult time coming until our survivors reluctantly learn what we need to survive.

Covid may well not end the Human Race but it certainly has put quite a hole in the population thus far and its delta variant is getting its grip on human kind as well as.
You need to remember that during the Black Death Plagues the human population was less than it is now, they were far more spread out and more isolated than we are now, there WAS NO International travel that ONLY took a few or 24-36 hours to complete, then it took months to go from Europe to Asia by sea for example, plenty of time for the Plague to wipe out everyone on board a ship and leave it be wrecked after drifting uncontrolled across the waters.
A prime example of HOW a viral infection has spread in the last 100 years is the Spanish Flu.
Thanks to faster sea travel, the Spanish Flu, after infecting many returning troops from WWI, hitched a ride on ships transporting those troops home, they had no idea if they were infected or not, they just disembarked, were de-mobbed, went about their lives and journeys and voila, the virus was passed on and until, if memory serves correct, approx. 9 MILLION, yes that IS the numeral NINE followed by six ( 6)ZEROS btw, PEOPLE had become infected and died from it.
But I suppose that that kind of history may not have been in the curriculum at what ever school you attended to become a qualified Engineer.
However it was required learning and a subject for studying when I went through my training as a nurse back in the early 1970's, as was ever so much more as well.

It may not end us but it will be another of the thousand cuts that eventually will.

It would probably be a lot easier to sue an entity, a corporation, like Faux News or Facebook for spreading dangerous information, than suing individuals. That would entail filing millions of lawsuits.

Is that not precisely what Lawyers have Clerks, etc, for?
Suing 'entities' imo, merely lets the real culprits off the hook, going for each one individually causes them more deserved anguish, etc, etc, the same as they have caused for those who actually care about our fellow human beings.

@Triphid, the anti-vaxxers’ idea is far simpler than the idea running through your mind. They have waited too long for the Rapture.

Well WHY not give them a first taste of what this 'rapture' might well entail then?

@Triphid They are arranging their own first taste.

@yvilletom It is always nice to know that one has helped another in some way, little or big, just as long as you've helped, so why shouldn't we 'assist' them and enjoy doing it as well.

Spreading anti-vaxx misinformation is irresponsible but in general lying and deception are not illegal when done by private individuals.

Making vaccinations mandatory won't happen. Some people cannot receive the vaccine due to poor immune systems or other physiological conditions.

I'm in favor of mask mandates in public but those are difficult to enforce. There simply aren't enough police to run to every store or restaurant everytime someone won't wear a mask.

I think everyone should get vaccinated if they can and in general masks should be worn indoors in stores and places people gather but there's only so much that can be realistically done.

But, would you not agree that in these anti-vaxxers doing what they do they ARE, technically and possibly putting the lives of others in jeopardy just as does a parent who fails to keep his/her firearms secured away from children also place both the children, themselves and or others at risk of either harm or death?
After all, has not COVID forced the rules to change somewhat drastically, so to speak, should we, the Human Race/Species, not also change some of the rules regarding putting others at risk, etc, as well?

@Triphid Driving while sleepy puts the lives of others at risk. Using energy produced by coal puts the lives of miners at risk. There comes a point where we can't make the world 100% safe all of the time.

And parents have a responsibility to keep their children safe from firearms in their own house. That's a different situation than an adult selfishly putting other adults at risk.

I think vaccinations are going about as well as they can. The government could do much more to encourage and stress that people wear masks in public. Businesses, especially those in the medical field, service industry, and first responders should be required to get vaccinations and wear masks. But there will be some who will absolutely refuse to cooperate. The effort to police mask wearing and vaccinations is simply not worth the effort in my opinion.

@Charles1971 But, as humans sharing the same planet is it not also our duty to try to do OUR best to makes assure as humanly possible that WE do NO harm to anyone else and, imo, that includes during Pandemic episodes such as this?

@Triphid You seem to be more of an idealist (not a criticism) while I'm more of a realist.

Speeding causes accidents, harms and kills people, and is illegal (though only a misdemeanor). Yet many people speed. I bet you've driven over the speed limit many times. But it would require a monumental amount of effort to eliminate all speeding. The effort involved simply is not worth it.

That's my same point concerning vaccinations and wearing masks. In about 7 months we've managed to vaccination about 67% of people in the U.S. and almost half of people on the entire planet. And more people continue to get vaccinated each day. I call that a win.

@Charles1971 Okay so you seem to think I'm a Dreamer, so answer me this, IF you Americans are ever so fond of bringing Litigation against someone/anyone for even the most trivial of reasons/slights, etc, WHY are you not so interested in doing it for a very good, and important reason for the FUTURE of Human kind via our children, their children and the Generations, HOPEFULLY, to follow on from them?
Is it. perhaps, because you see NO PERSONAL financial gain to be had?

@Triphid I do not speak for all Americans and its ridiculous to assume that I have some interest in litigation against several million people... a task that sounds exceedingly expensive and vastly time consuming.

I believe I have already expressed my reasons. I have no interest in repeating myself. You are welcome to disagree with me.

@Charles1971 "Expensive," is it as expensive as the needless deaths of well over a MILLION people or more thus far through this Pandemic?
There is/was a possibility that perhaps just ONE of those lives lost needlessly could have held the solution to the either the Global Warming/Climate Change problem that is now facing EVERYONE on this planet OR, the solution to ridding us of this COVID Virus and any/all of its variants PERMANENTLY.
Plus, IF a Law Firm were interested enough to take on such a greatly Newsworthy case load and to do it on a basis of No, No Fees, do you not think that the notoriety that Firm would receive, GLOBALLY, would NOT be well worth the trouble and expense?

@Umbrella_Guard FYI, I was not nor am I assuming anything about anyone BUT there is much evidence available, perhaps not to those residing within the the U.S. OR those desiring NOT to be aware of it, that Litigation is a HUGE business in the U.S. and it is often seen as ready resource for financial gains by the Litigants themselves.
Ask yourself, How many Court Cases have there been in the U.S. in the last 15 years + where a Litigant has sued another person/company/business over something we'd normally regard as trivial at best?
Then check into the reports of the Compensation Pay-out/s those Litigants have received ionce the case has been heard and settled.
Mayhap, then you will realise that I was not/am not assuming anything at all.

@Triphid Let's agree to disagree. Neither your nor my opinion on the matter will alter the reality of the situation and I have no interest in endlessly debating this.

It will never happen. Homo sapiens is far from being sapiens.

Actually, I rang an old friend and long retired Solicitor about this very idea just after I posted it, he rang me back and said that such a Universal Law Suit, aka Universal Class Action, would have at least a 89-97% chance of success and may even result in it being referred afterwards to the Hague as well.

@Triphid I guess that would require that anti-vaxxism is seen for what it is: racism in another form.

@anglophone Perhaps racism, but I think more likely Discrimination of some sort.

Sounds good to me! We just had our flu jabs on Thursday so we go for everything we can.

Anybody who tries to incite me to act against my own best interests and the best interests of my nearest and dearest is likely to get cauliflower ear and a facial rearrangement.

Me, I'm a what we here in Australia now call " a double Jabbed person" as well.
My soon to be 8 year old nephew, Henry, keeps asking " When do I get my needles."
Hopefully it will be very soon, imo, the children should have been first cabs off the rank and NOT the those bloody parasitic Politicians getting theirs before everyone else.
