The US learn something from what's happening abroad? LOLROFL, we can't even learn from what's happening in the US. Fortunately those of us who never stopped taking Covid seriously are at much lower risk now. I just got my six month booster and never stopped masking and social distancing.

Same here. I read Laurie Garrett's "The Coming Plague" a decade ago, and so was prepared. I don't think she envisioned the absurd world of republican insanity back then, but she was spot on about a lot of things. What keeps me up at night is the possibility that this could just be a prelude to something else even worse. But oh, well...we have Zoom now, so don't have to be so lonely when stuck at home anymore! 😀

@Organist1 Almost a certainty something worse is to come, and the US is ill prepared to deal with it. In some ways our lifetimes have been a very ahistorical bubble of freedom from plagues and disease.

@Druvius We have become complacent, having lived our lives struggle-free. Antibiotics, lack of war on our own soil, etc. You're right: ill-prepared is what we are; I don't want to think about what will come next.

Our county came up with 600 doses and I was able to get a appointment on the 29th.

We might not be able to get control over this. A Bridge Too Far, as it were. Oh, well.

Cases are ticking up here already in places.

Same here...in the red counties.
