I get annoyed when people insinuate that agnostics are just afraid to take a position. I find it annoying that so many people go about their lives constantly seeing everything in terms of false dichotomies just so they can pick a side and then absolve themselves of any further analysis.

I am referring to agnostic stances on any other, lesser topics in addition to the ultimate questions of existence and reality.

We are all on the same side. Not because the 'we' is those of us on agnostic.com who generally shun organized religion in one way or other.

We are all on the same side because there is no planet B. Maybe Elon Musk will die on Mars (and not just on impact, yuk-yuk), but the rest of us will ride out both the good vibrations and the violent waves left by every living person until we too capsize and are claimed by the ages.

Back to the matter at hand, it seems to me that the existence of god(s) is (as of yet) provably unprovable. The difference is not about a side, but how one chooses to treat this.

And about here is where I would instruct someone to think about Russell's teapot. Basically, remember that a lack of falsifiability does NOT constitute evidence in and of itself.

Yeah, so do I.

There is no false dichotomy.

There is or there is not.

If you claim you don’t know then that’s a Knowledge claim.

Your knowledge does not affect the metaphysical nature of a thing existing or not existing.

Non/Existence is a fact in the world.
It does not care what you believe.

I believe in non-existence. I also believe that what some honest, sane, rational (but very unself-aware)believers experience as god is actually something real. I don’t think it has anything to do with the supernatural or the afterlife. I know it sounds flakey but what It looks like to me is they are experiencing being a part of, and interacting with zeitgeists. Think Forest Gump or Mickey and Mallory Knox.

In the original post I am also referring to agnostic stances on other, lesser topics in addition to the ultimate questions of existence and reality.

Some really are not sure. Others are afraid to be wrong.

Yeh, live and let live to be honest is my view .. I have no issue with anyone having an Agnostic view !! It is pretty much none of my business unless they invite me to talk about it anyway and then it's thier view so my opinion is only that !! 🙂 !!

Peace.
