So, that mean old Echo Dot Alexa wanted to electrocute a 10 year old. This is all over the Internet with pictures to prove it. I saw one pic of the Echo Dot myself. Apparently the machine was brought into a challenge game that was being played. Amazon even got involved and said they were making corrections to Alexa so this will not happen again. The problem for me is that I do not believe it. What I see is a case of overactive media. Behind it I see somebody getting lots of views and likes. A little noise was made and maximum attention generated. Who was the clever one here -- Alexa or the 10 year old? Sorry. I don't buy it.

Alexa is not sentient. It's just a program that responds to input. If its pulling information from the internet then it will have access to a near limitless amount of garbage. Who's to blame for this? Nobody. It would be like me blaming Samsung every time I get an unwanted phone call on my cell phone.

If anyone is worried about what their Alexa will say then just pack it up and send it back to Amazon. Problem solved.

I agree with you but this story is all over the Internet and it smacks of stuff like "the Tide pod challenge." Maybe you remember that one. What I am trying to bring out here is that media is simply going with this story and whoever got it going is getting all the views, clicks, and likes that they wanted. From Tik Tok to Timbuktu people want to believe this story as if it was absolute gospel. I think it is all a setup involving the making of money.

Am I worried about what Alexa is going to say? Not in the least. Mine told me she was made by Amazon Corporation. Sometimes she does not get what I am saying (they do learn) and a couple of times she told me to have a nice weekend.
