So, in the end if/when this virus turns into just another mild sickness all the anti-vax idiots will say 'told ya so.' They will feel vindicated (never mind the millions that had to die for this to happen).

Aside from lack of peer review some caveats:

”"We have to be mindful this study was small," Professor Bennett said.

She also said South Africa's high rates of Delta infections raised questions about the results.

In her opinion, it was unclear whether participants' antibodies were able to neutralise the Delta variant because they had been exposed to it in the past, or because they had been exposed more recently to Omicron.”

It is certain that the world is going into the covid epidemic just like the flu has been. We'll all learn to live with it instead of hoping it to be over. With wide mass infections and vaccines globally so far, this will not make any news in about 2 years anywhere except finding medical brochures in doctor's offices everywhere.

What amazes me is how much gold the pharmaceuticals have stuck in this. The buyers are not medical insurance companies, individuals and hospitals but the country governments have been buying in the quantity of 300 million, 500 million so far and the world needs about 5 billion more. With every new variant, multiply this quantity each time.

I always wondered decades ago if a pharmaceutical company paid bad actors to just mildly pollute a river or lake somewhere with germs and see their sales go up. How many governments and people will find it out? Maybe not in Western societies but it is imaginable in 3rd world countries it is very to hush any news, any inquiry or investigation just by paying off a government minister.

Small study, but could be significant.

If we're stuck with Covid (and evidence suggests we are), I guess it's just as well to have a less-lethal variety take over. What worries me is that this is far from the last mutation.

Nice to have it official, but not really a big surprise.
