R.I.P.... Magawa definitely had a meaningful life.

He probably also had a good life, being pampered and fed without worrying that someone will kill or eat him.

One has a secure feeling when creatures are loved and honored.

@AnonySchmoose New Zealand described the meaning the sentiency. When the body's nerve connect to the brain so as to be able to control the movements of the life form is considered as being sentient. This has been expanded to included a sense of consciousness. [animal-ethics.org] A non-human has a consciousness different from the human in that they live in a different world and have different sense priorities. It's one reason some people have become vegetarians.
