Djokovic visa canceled a 2nd time. Canceled once, court overturns so government overturns the court. As Nigel Firange said, that's what Banana Republics do

"Mr Hawke said he had canceled the visa this time on "health and good order grounds, on the basis that it was in the public interest to do so".
If your visa is canceled, automatic 3 year ban from re-entry. Decision announced just before 5pm on a Friday. Australian Open, first match starts Monday. Nothing suspicious about the timing.

All I can say it's good we are not hosting the winter Olympics (bit hard anyway being the Southern hemisphere and all), otherwise be deporting athletes left and right.

You mean, the timing of "during an ongoing legal battle and right when he tried to enter the country"? This is suspicious? The issue has been going on since November, according to the timeline.

Minister could have done this Tuesday. Why wait until close of business Friday?

@puff Off the top of my head, to keep the other bodies involved from interfering until after the weekend at least.

@Paul4747 They allowed Djokovic to go in public and practice for the tournament, which starts Monday.

I think it's perfectly appropriate to have a law that says you have to be vaccinated before you can enter the country.

But then, you're not a right wing blockhead.

And so do I. But as a medical procedure at least I understand there will be times people need to be exempted for medical reasons. If you accept the science you must accept there will be exemptions, valid ones.
Our govt has disregarded expert medical advice when for 2 years they have used that excuse for all actions they have taken.
