[rsn.org] The Supreme Court Is an Antidemocratic Monstrosity. We Should Break Its Power.
These issues come to mind: Roberts and his overturning precedent and legislation limiting corruption with the Citizens United ruling. How Clarence Thomas represents the standard Uncle Tom: conscious but lacking any particular intellect; possibly the least competent justice ever (and all the rest, and his wife's psychotic partisanship). Gorsuch has revealed himself to be a selfish, partisan sociopath by refusing to wear a mask in Sotomayor's presence. Alito, Kavenaugh, and Barrett have shown themselves to be extreme right wing kooks, scarcely better than Bork if at all. These 'people' are really unfit to serve with their distorted mentality. Their presence on the Court, once again, make the US look like a giant clown car of morons, easily manipulated or apathetic voters who have no love for their own democracy.
We definitely need checks and balances. Democrats have not considered age and health with many of their appointments. Republicans are very good at long-term planning when it comes to winning elections and controlling the Supreme Court but lousy when it comes to taking care of our country.
Republicans never give up but Democrats always seem to relax the minute they gain any sort of control. Let's see if that remains true in 2022.
Don't elections have consequences? We Democrats keep losing elections and that means we allow the balance of power to shift in the Senate, House, the WH and the SC. I believe the system is designed properly. We just need to start making a case to American voters better and start winning elections. We have not complained when Democrats dominated the SC. Isn't that true?
