Looks like I'm in the beginnings of the crazy cat lady phase. First, it was two strays moving into my garage last winter.

Yesterday I found a baby kitten on my front porch. I had an feeling that it may be one of the strays so I put it in the garage by the food bowl. I wake up this morning, and now I have two kittens.

At least they're warm and healthy. When they get old enough I'll spay/neuter then along with the two strays I have. That way none of them will breed more.

Anyone who does things like this to help animals has my vote all day long. It means you're a good person. Loving animals is a very good indicator of a good person.

In my neighborhood, I'm the crazy cat guy.

The man across the street used to feed the neighborhood strays. My daughter had a cat that had to stay outside due to his habit of scent-marking. I kept his food out on my front porch. The man across the street passed. His cat-friends started helping my daughter's cat with his food. My daughter moved, her cat passed. I continued to leave food out. Now there are countless kitties out there. They're not dying in the street in front of the house so much because they don't cross the street any more.

I vowed not to bring any in, although most are friendly and allow me to pet them. One had a kitten with an eye infection. I ended up taking her to the vet. Now she lives in the house. I got that one spayed. I was shocked by the cost of spaying. I had considered trapping the whole bunch of 'em and having them "fixed" until I found that the vet wouldn't do a group discount. It cost me over $170 for this one female.

I think of myself more as a Cat Daddy.

There are often groups who will assist with spaying and neutering feral cats without charging you an arm and a leg. Are you in the U.S.?

@Blindbird That's how I'm doing it. I'm going to trap the two older ones when they stop nursing. I'm hoping the two babies will be use to me so I can just take them in.

@Blindbird I live in north Texas. My main problem is distance. I'd have to do it probably two at a time. It would be closer to take them into southern Oklahoma to a feral friendly vet. My town doesn't have one. The closest in Texas I communicated with, filled out their questionnaires and I haven't heard back. I'm willing to spend some money, but not $170+ per animal. The males would be less, though. Some are friendly enough to pick up. Others are Feral with a capital "F". One got in the house and I had to catch him in a cage. He was probably 4-5 months old and wild. He was mad about being in that cage.

@david75090 I bet he was!

Cats are awesome, but don't let it get out of control.. my sister has about 10 now !
Call a local animal rescue. They will find good homes for them..

We have several no kill shelters around here. If I need to I'll give them a call.

I am an old guy but fall within the "crazy cat lady" syndrome. There is no way that I could not pick-up a kitten, feed it, pet it, hold it. They have me at the first feeble "mew".

Good for you. I have adopted a number of strays over my lifetime. Most of them were loyal, loving compainions that brought much joy!

Thats every nice of you to take care of them

Good work! Next step...

I'm really hoping to bring in the kittens; the older ones won't even let me pet them. The problem I may have is that I have a dog that hates cats. Funny thing though; she's the one that got my attention about the kitten. She kept going in and out of the house like I was supposed to be following her. When I finally went to the front door, she was nudging the kitten.

Poor kitten, she was soaking wet (it was raining) and cold. I brought her in and bundled her up in my lap to warm her up while my dog watched over her. I'm VERY proud of my Delila 🐶 for not eating the kitten.

We've got 2 condos inside along with beds, huts & 'cozy areas'. Also have 1 condo outside with beds, mini-huts, a 'fort' & little mats. Seems I'm working towards that extreme!!!!

@kiramea ?

We all know this picture is bull...Youd spend an entire week putting this set up together and the cats would only sit in the boxes. Lol
