I may not do all of this but I think you are exactly correct. The link I followed could also have been on many other sites. I don't mind you having my general info but I certainly get angry when being exploited.

@DenoPenno Yes, they should at least be asking to use your information, and not in fine print somewhere that's hard to find - and certainly not just because you applied to a job posting.

I did that too before I retired, I still use it for questionable sites as well as political sites. They stay full, since the address is sold over and over again.

@glennlab I have one for those, too, and for one-off shopping sites. I try to keep my main email addy pure so I don't get pissed off every morning when I open my mail.

@Lauren I should have set up a separate one for politics too. Every two years i have to go through and unsub to a ton of lists. With the dems it works, repubs have no honor.

@glennlab The repubs have been calling me like crazy this year! It's not even fun to vent on them anymore. I just want them to go away!

@Lauren I get several emails everyday from the repubs, I understand the lack of fun in venting, since they just add you to more email or phone lists.
