Florida students at several high schools stepped out of class Thursday in a statewide protest of Florida’s “don’t say gay” bill, according to multiple news outlets.
Students across the state began walking out of classrooms as part of a campaign by groups including the Central Florida group “Recall Flagler County School Board” — a student-run activist organization monitoring bigotry and corruption, according to its Instagram bio. The founding member of the campaign is Flagler Palm Coast High School student Jack Petocz.
“Today, the Florida House passed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Students are angry, frustrated and ready to fight this sickening piece of legislation,” Petocz tweeted in a post on Feb. 24. “I’m organizing a statewide school walkout on March 3rd at 12:00 PM in opposition.”
MAYBE, JUST MAYBE TODAY'S KIDS WILL SAVE US.
I can't wrap my mind around how scared conservatives are of anything related to gay people. It's nice to see that the youth of this country aren't afraid and are willing to stand up for equality. Seems every week or so some conservative group, politician, or religious leader is trying to ban people from doing, saying, or seeing something. Its odd how conservatives always say they're about freedom but in truth they're only interested in their own freedom and not the freedom of anyone else... especially anyone different than they are.
