Are there others in the community who are dancers, or enjoy dancing? If so, what styles? Do you do it professionally, just for fun, for fitness? I've danced many many styles over the years since age 6: ballet, jazz, ballroom, Latin, middle eastern/bellydance, flamenco, bollywood, west African, Balinese, burlesque, hip hop, Scottish Highland dancing. For me, dance is what keeps me going, almost what keeps me alive (or feel alive).
When he was a teenager my father was in a dance academy, who often did performances at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City. From ages 3-5 I took dance lessons at the same academy, and for the most part enjoyed my time there. It's amazing all these years later I can still recall some of the experiences I had while in dance school. Since those days I haven't danced much, and the types of parties I've attended over the years weren't exactly centered around dancing, but I still remember a few moves. In my teens I started taking karate lessons, which distanced me more from dancing. At age 23 I was hired by a good lady friend of mine to entertain her and her friends on her birthday(she lived in a rather sizable house), in which dancing skills played a part, but I'm afraid that story would be rated X and not suitable to discuss here though. All in all, it's good to know some basic dancing moves, you never know when you might need them.
I dance.
Anything with a good beat/rythme that I like will do.
Preferences for funkin' it up.
Fast or slow, doesn't matter.
I like the night life (well, I used to), I like to Boogie (and that's about the extent of it). LOL! But my daughter is a bit like you. She has been doing some form of dance since age 4 or 5. She has turned into quite a tap-dancer and is taking some advanced tap, and also jazz. She even took some hip-hop at one point. Recently, she was in a community theater production of Addams Family that had a big tango number in it (no surprise there!). Next Spring, she'll perform in a production of Newsies with the same company. You probably know this is a very dance-intensive show. The B-way version has some nice tap in it as well. You guys should become buds. =] Oh, she's 16 now.
Not only am i left handed.... I'm a little left footed as well. I have, as it's been called, terminal white boy dance syndrome.
You don’t have to be good to enjoy dancing. Kinda like people who sing in the shower. You don’t have to be Pavarotti.
I enjoy pole dancing.
Doing or watching? Seriously it’s a great form of evercise and takes a lot of skill.
@graceylou Both. It keeps me in shape.
