It's not remotely difficult to know who to believe.

Not sure. Bystanders and outsiders are often quick to judge other people's situations.

@Ryo1 Knowing that over 7,000 Russians have been arrested, and worse, for protesting the Russian invasion of Ukraine, indicates that a lot of Russian citizens are well aware that they're being lied to.
I'm not judging. I'm going by what has been substantiated.
Being a "bystander" doesn't mean I'm "quick to judge".
It means I have been paying attention for quite a while.
That's what I do.
I pay attention.
