It's about 8:00a on Sunday morning, got my coffee and I'm listening to a few of the sermons being broadcast featuring Dr. this and Pastor that, and watching their rapt audiences nodding in braindead agreement and cheering on whatever they hear being referenced from the bible and taking it "on faith" that everything they're being told is reality no matter how ridiculous it all is.

Why do I do this?

Well, first, it's entertaining. I find watching religious services amusing. It's like watching a parade of stupid. Grown adults in the 21st century who can't think for themselves -- they're allowed to drive, and vote, and reproduce but have to consult a book written by goatherders 2000 years ago to make a decision today. Second, I'm curious to know what messages are being spread. Some are inoccuous enough while others are fiery warnings about their immortal souls, while others are wildly political and dangerous threats to freedom and democracy. It runs the gamut. It's the same reason I watch Fox News sometimes -- I like to know what the crazies are discussing.

The various preaching styles are also fun to see. Compare Joel Osteen to Kenneth Copeland,, or Robin Bullock to Greg Locke, or Kat Kerr to Paula White -- it's a clown car of kooks. It's all so ridiculous, it's almost impossible to believe it's real.

I have to end this, there's a promo on telling me how to survive the end times judgment that is nigh and promises me nothing short of salvation. But first, an uplifting song about how wondrous God is and an offer for a box set of inspirational sermons that's available for a gift of faith of only $135!

Thanks for doing the research so I don’t have toβ€¦πŸ˜‰

Back in the 70's I liked to listen to late night AM radio. The religious and talk programs were just as over the top as anything today.

I mostly spent my 70s radio time listening to rock and Dr. Demento.

@Sgt_Spanky I couldn't read your comment without singing the name "Dr. Demento" in my head. πŸ˜‰

Maybe they will take it on faith that my credit card isn't maxed out or that I have money in my overdrawn bank account to cover the check I send them. No? I didn't really think so.

They only take magical, supernatural shit on faith. When it comes to church economics they're much more practical.
