Recently in the news there have been people who claim that the world is flat, but then there are those who actually try to physically prove this. One such example was the guy with too much free time who built a rocket in California to fly and prove that the earth was flat...What do you guys think of this?

His rocket was a pointless exercise anyway. As he wouldn't be able to see past the edge from there anyway.

His best option would be to fly in a straight line until he got to the edge (or ran out of fuel!) If he gets to the edge, he's proved his point. If he ends up back where he started he has a bloody big fuel tank.

I really thought someone with the grasp of scientific principles of the flat earthers had a very good chance of winning a Darwin Award. I expected his effort to bomb, literally.

It's a 'brain dead' cult and it's forum is UTube. That social 'platform' is infested with it .

Did he see god while he was up there ?

I like the fact that the anti science people are going completely absurd in this case. It gives proof to logical people that regecting basic science is wrong. I am sure there are people out there who now question the notion that God created the Earth simply because of these people.

I was listening to the Daily Zeitgeist and they floated an interesting take on the guy. They said he probably isn't even a flat earther anyway. Many are just trolls, apparently even including the guy who started it. This guy needed funding and attention for his rocket and took advantage of this absurd movement. He did make and launch a rocket. How many have done that?

I really just have to laugh at these people. They sound really paranoid and ridiculous. Scientific facts can only convince so many people, I guess.

I honestly thought he was gonna go up like Wile E Coyote, super genius & come down a rain of cinders.

LOL???

Some folks take their delusions to a whole new level of insanity and absurdity.

If the earth were flat, cats would've already shoved everything off the edge by now...old joke I know....

he is a complete twat as rockets just fly straight up and wouldn't prove a thing really. he would have been better getting a drill.

Just look at the bottom of any shoe. They are flat, just like the earth. You’re move globetards.

I think we should start a gofundme to send all flat earthers into space. And leave them there, because their ideas are ridiculously easy to disprove but they listen to harebrained conspiracies more than actual evidence.

That sounds very extreme Caleb, but I like it !

If someone wants to believe that then go right ahead.... Why should I try to do anything about it? Before attempting anything one should understand that person reasons and that's likely where the problem is at, they don't know their reasons. See the paradox?

Hopefully he kills himself trying.

The flatters will go nuts.

Im not sure if the link is showing up but here it is:
[google.com]

He launched himself in a test rocket last month and got hurt pretty badly but that did not discourage the idiot. He said he was still going to build the big rocket and launch himself proving the flat Earth. I think there is a link - at least of the fools flight and injury news. I'll check.

OK here you go:
