I have no problem with these concepts. In fact ... it fits with the science of the matter. Natural selection has fitted us with a strong tendency to pay attention to potential and actual harms as these are potential existential threats to be avoided -- and to ignore / take for granted actual benefits as these are irrelevant to survival.

But in the modern world there are relatively few actual existential threats. So it makes sense to condition your thinking to pay way more attention than you naturally would to the good, and way less than you naturally would to the bad -- not by disacknowledging it, but as the video suggests, observing it dispassionately and "letting it go".

I used to resist this as PollyAnna-ish woo but have come to see the validity of it -- if one does not make it INTO woo by, say, superimposing religious ideation atop it.
